Beginning November 1, 2009 Nick Fisher became the Chief Executive Officer of the brand new Humane Society of the South Platte Valley.   The vision for HSSPV is to be an innovative humane society specializing in dog behavior, rehabilitation and training.  See the humane society website at www.hsspv.org for future training programs and information.  Please call Nick or Ann at the numbers above for private training inquiries.

Basic Obedience Class has started!  We have 12 dogs and their owners participating in this class, what a great turnout!  Check back often for pictures on the Flickr site of Dog Obedience Class!

ADP-Advanced Dog Psychology Class will be begin on Saturday September 21st.  We still have slots open for dogs and their owner's to sign up for this class.  ADP is a class geared for those dogs and their owners who have been through Basic Obedience or/and Canine Good Citizen and are looking to take their relationship and training with their dog to the next level.  Our first ADP class was a huge success with many of our pack members wanting to move on to Canine Agility Training!

Canine Agility Class will also begin on Saturday September 21st.  This class is reserved for dogs and owner's who have been through ADP-Advanced Dog Psychology to insure they have the required skills mastered to take on the more advanced training that Canine Agility requires.  Interested in Agility?  Sign up for our ADP class and enjoy the journey!!

Speaking of enjoying the Journey check out our Balanced Dog Blog to follow the journey and adventures of our two rehabilitation cases Journey and Kessel.  Journey was found by Arvada Animal Management Officers abandoned next to Ralston Creek in Arvada.  The Animal Management Team asked us and Indain Tree Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge to take him on to see if we could fix up his minor medical issues, neuter him and rehabilitate and train him so we can find him a forever home!

Kessel came to us from the owner's of a Camp Bow Wow in Maine after he had bit their 12 year old son.  We are working with Kessel on food possession and his aggression towards anything that interferes with his scent sense and food.  Enjoy the photographs taken by John Cowie of John Cowie Photography!

We will be offering a wide array of classes beginning in late July.  Check out the schedule above for the class offerings.  Please contact us ASAP and reserve your space as classes are filling up fast!

For those of you with puppies, check out our FREE Puppy Socialization Class on Thursday afternoons from 4-5 PM.  This is a great way to start off your dog's relationship with you and other dogs in a safe comfortable environment!  We believe in dog to dog socialization so much that we offer this class for FREE.  Call Ann at 303-898-4238 to let her know you will be attending. 

April/May 2009

Balanced Dog Training and Rehabilitation is pleased to offer our first two training classes.  Thursday April 30th will be the start of our first Puppy Socialization class and Saturday May 2nd will mark the start of our first Basic Obedience Class and our Advanced Dog Psychology Training (Pre-Agility) class.  Please use the contact form on the website or give us a call to sign up for one of these classes!  We look forward to seeing you in class!

Balanced Dog Training and Rehabilitation is very pleased to announce our partnership with Indian Tree Pet Lodge at 9530 W. 80th Ave in Arvada.  Indian Tree Pet Lodge is a brand new (less than two years old) state of the art Boarding Kennel and Training facility.  Indian Tree offers Boarding, Doggy Day Camp, Grooming and Balanced Dog is now the official training firm for the Pet Lodge!  Please see our Training Services Page for the exciting classes and training opportunities that will be offered through Indian Tree Pet Lodge!
